Fundraising Support & Grant Writing

Primary Role:  Research potential grant opportunities, assist in grant writing, and create templates for ongoing grant writing.

Secondary Role: Assist the Special Events Coordinator in hosting the annual Haliburton Highlands Challenge summer fundraising event. 

Brooksong Retreat and Cancer Support Centre, formerly known as Abbey Retreat Centre, is a safe, caring and healing community for people affected by cancer. 

Located in the Haliburton Highlands, we provide a variety of in-person retreats and online programs that offer rest and renewal, companionship, and an introduction to evidence-informed practices that tend the body, mind, and soul. We offer these programs at no cost to participants, recognizing there are already many increased expenses for individuals and families facing cancer.

Responsibilities:

  • Research potential grant opportunities
  • Create grant application templates
  • Support staff in applying for grants to support the vision and mission of the organization
  • Connect with the Brooksong community to invite and motivate teams of fundraisers
  • Connect with local businesses to invite financial and in-kind sponsorship
  • Help to organize and implement a marketing and communication strategy (social media, radio and newspapers)
  • Assist in organizing and implementing local events connected to the fundraiser

Qualifications:

  • Positive, enthusiastic, and encouraging
  • Not-for-profit familiarity an asset
  • Familiarity with fundraising practices an asset
  • Strong research and communication skills

Job Type: Contract: 8 weeks, 35 hrs/week

Salary: $18.00/hour

Job Status: Spring/ Summer 2024 

Start Date: May 2024

Location: In person and some remote
