Our Centre

Connecting to nature is a fundamental component of healing. When you stay at the Abbey Retreat Centre, a cancer support centre located in Haliburton, Ontario, you will be invited to experience the kind of peace, hospitality, rest and reflection that is becoming increasingly rare to find in our fast-paced world.

On a beautiful property surrounded by forests and ponds, you can slow down, open your senses, and explore practices to nurture your body, mind and spirit. While on retreat, you are invited to gently reconnect with what really matters to you.

Spacious bedrooms, a yoga/art-making studio, cozy and comfortable living and meeting rooms, beautiful grounds, walking trails, an outdoor fire pit and a cozy indoor fireplace are all awaiting you.

Land Acknowledgement

We respectfully acknowledge that the Abbey Retreat Centre is located on Treaty 20 Michi Saagiig territory, and in the traditional territory of the Michi Saagiig and Chippewa Nations, collectively known as the Williams Treaties First Nations, which are Curve Lake, Rama, Hiawatha, Alderville, Scugog Island, Beausoleil and Georgina Island First Nations.

We acknowledge a shared presence of Indigenous nations throughout the area, and recognize its original, Indigenous inhabitants as the stewards of its lands and waters since time immemorial.

We commit to our ongoing learning in the journey towards reconciliation.

After 4 months of listening, creativity, small group conversations and A LOT OF COMMUNITY SUPPORT, the decision has been made. Within the next few months, Abbey Retreat Centre (ARC) will officially change our name to Brooksong Retreat and Cancer Support Centre.
