Special Event Fundraising Organizer
Primary Role: Assist in organizing the annual Haliburton Highlands Challenge summer fundraising event that celebrates the important health benefits of being active while supporting the vision and mission of Brooksong Retreat and Cancer Support Centre (formerly known as Abbey Retreat Centre).
Brooksong Retreat and Cancer Support Centre is a safe,caring and healing community for people affected by cancer.
Located in the Haliburton Highlands, we provide a variety of in-person retreats and online programs that offer rest and renewal, companionship, and an introduction to evidence-informed practices that tend the body, mind, and soul. We offer these programs at no cost to participants, recognizing there are already many increased expenses for individuals and families facing cancer.
Responsibilities:
- Working with a volunteer fundraising committee, help set fundraising priorities, timelines, sponsorship goals, marketing and communication strategy
- Refresh and develop new marketing materials where required
- Connect with the Brooksong community, locally and beyond, to invite and motivate teams of fundraisers
- Connect with local businesses to invite financial and in-kind sponsorship
- Help to develop and implement donor and sponsor recognition plan
- Help to organize and implement social media, radio and newspaper marketing and communication strategy
- Assist in organizing and implementing local events for the fundraiser
- Utilize and upkeep the Canada Helps platform throughout the fundraiser
- Evaluate and offer suggestions for further fundraising initiatives
Qualifications:
- Positive, enthusiastic, and encouraging
- Not-for-profit familiarity an asset
- Capacity to work in a fast-paced and changing environment
- Ability to commit to the entire term of work
- Able to work independently or as part of a team
Job Type: Contract – 16 weeks, 35 hrs/week (May through August)
Salary: $18.00/hour
Start Date: May 2024
Location: In person and some remote
